So I'm a pretty new crabby owner and shortly after getting our first 3 crabs two went down for a molt. One came up after 4 weeks the other after 6.They came up looking so much better than before, but here is where my concerns come in. I had originally thought we had small crabs but after the molt i realized that one guy (Bolt) is actually much bigger. As in his legs are almost twice as long and fat as everyone else. Well once Pretty Girl came up i noticed that she isnt so small herself. In fact shes just about the same size as Bolt but with super skinny legs. So my question is, is Pretty Girl the result of poor nutrition? Or is she just gonna be a skinny legged crab.? She moves alot more since molting and seems to eat often. At least i frequently see her near the food and she ate an entire dried leaf yesterday by her self. I would also like to mention that Pretty Girl came in the . Smallest shell and is now in a shell 3xs the originals size. She literally changed into a new shells within minutes of being with us. And was the first down to molt.

Actually, you answered the question yourself without realizing it. Crabs will grow bigger when they have bigger shells available to grow into, so when she had last been in a small shell, she wouldn't grow as much at first. (it also has to do with her conditions before coming to you) Now that she has bigger shells; she will grow bigger. You can have 2 crabs exactly the same age & one will grow bigger; even from the same hatching. It depends on what shells are around to grow into.
