Ahh, Claude! That is so cute and yeah, I totally believe that is a possibility. Why not? Pregnant women often crave foods that contain vitamins or minerals they are lacking, so it makes perfect sense for hermies! Good lookin out!
≈19 clypeatus, 4 perlatus & 8 compressus in 4 tanks
I mentioned Claude here... he was still alive when I wrote this. He lost both claws in a molt and I figured he wouldn't make it... but I learned to hand-feed him w/ a tiny paint brush (seemed less hazardous than a toothpick, and it scared him less!). I also made a cuttlebone powder paste that he could 'lick' off of his legs to get him a lot of calcium. He had huge gel-limbs... but he didn't survive the molt. Back then my setup wasn't as good as it is now. I often wonder what might've happened to him in the current setup. These days, molts are not a potential death sentence, but something they have to do periodically in order to grow. Claude went on to live a happy and healthy 5 months being entirely hand-fed. I'm always glad I ignored the advice that he could "learn to feed himself." The new tank setup was late Sept. and he died 8/29/08. Now? I would've buried him under the big water dish, where everyone goes to molt... and who knows? New claws, most likely.
kitty: Not much activity in my tank. One morning I got up and it looked like a tornado went through it. Water bowls tumbled, food dishes upside down. Fixed it all up and have been waiting eversince. ! Nothing. DARN !!
