Keith mentions the deworming drugs that can be in manure, it can also have antibiotics or other meds that the animals are taking.
That is one good thing to think about when you see some people selling manure as worm castings.. ! its been brought to my attention that this is being done..be aware where your worm castings are comming from too! ill do a post about worm castings to discribe what mine are and that might help those that want to make a worm pile and start to make there own worm castings..
Do you have a list of sellers that are doing this so we know who to avoid?
I dont Tiger. I can tell you that The hermit crab patch has great worm castings . If others have bought some from somewhere that they know were great id rather mention the great places then call out bad ones.. I think that would be a better ethical way to do things.. Ask before you buy or get references.. If you buy from Etsy ore Ebay check the feedback. Anyone should be proud to give you references or show you their feedback.. I know im sure proud of my feed back. I do offer the worm castings as cheep as i can mail them. The weight is the main cost of them. The flate rate boxes help. Once you get them home just keep them air tight in a cool place where they wont dry out.. Its also safe to add any that are not finished off in the dish that may become dry right into your substrate. The worm castings hold well with the liquid the crabs produce and put on their feet to push out and hold together burrows and it also provides a healthy snack. Crabs often munch on substrate.
kitty: Not much activity in my tank. One morning I got up and it looked like a tornado went through it. Water bowls tumbled, food dishes upside down. Fixed it all up and have been waiting eversince. ! Nothing. DARN !!
