Okay, so yesterday my son tells me that my crab is dead. {This is the crab in the Toki shell who I have started calling Pale Pants since I don't know who he is. He is recently molted, but has VERY pale skin and 2 missing leg segments.} So I go look and he is over by the salt pool. His legs are a little spread (like a giraffe when they drink water) and he has his head down in a tiny little divot he made in the sand. I could see his eyes above the hole and his claws in the hole. Nary an antenna was twitching. Well, as soon as I started moving stuff to take off the lid, he sat up, so I knew he was alive. Sue had suggested maybe he was looking for humidity, but at that time, the humidity was in the high 80s and the temp was low 80s. I just figured he was being a weirdo.
Today I look and he is doing the same thing in the same spot! So this time I tried to get some pics. He was (of course) in a hard to see spot and I first tried my camera (my older one with the flash) and no luck-the flash kept bouncing off the leaf, the tape or the glass. Then I tried the "good" camera and couldn't get a shot that wasn't blurry. Apparently my hand shakes when push the button and while my old camera can handle it, the new one can't. The light was washing the guy out a bit and I still didn't get a clear shot, though he did pick his head up after the 15th attempt or so,hh. So, see if you can see what he is doing and give me an idea of what the heck he is doing. Conditions at this time were humidity of 88% and temp of 77.

Now his head is back up & he's turning away.
