HOW MANY CRABS DO YOU HAVE,WHAT SIZES ARE THEY & HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD THEM? We (my son) bought 4 crabs, about 6 weeks ago. They are all wearing around 1" shells
WHAT SPECIES OF CRABS DO YOU HAVE-(Self-explanatory)
I think it's called the purple claw crab
TANK # AND SIZE(S))- One 10gal tank
LID TYPE-It's a mesh wire top, so we have a wooden slab covering about 80% of it
SUBSTRATE USED- coconut fiber and sand combo
SUBSTRATE DEPTH-
5-6"
HUMIDITY SOURCE- we mist it 2-3 times/week, and keep a sponge in the water dish
HEAT SOURCE-under tank heater. Where are they located?
Back of tank, above the substrate
WHAT IS YOUR TEMP/HUMIDITY ON AVERAGE?- temp avg is 75, humidity also 75%
WHAT TYPE OF GAUGE DO YOU USE (analog or digital)? analog
Where in the tank is the gauge located? 2-3" off the sub, centrally located
HOW DO YOU TREAT YOUR WATER?- tap water, with beta fish water conditioner
HOW DO YOU MAKE YOUR SALT WATER?- salt crystals (brand is unknown at the moment - baby sleeping in there)
HOW BIG/DEEP ARE YOUR POOLS?
Saltwater is 1-1.5" deep, drinking water is 1/2"
WHAT DO YOU FEED YOUR CRABS?- powder from the pet store
WHAT TYPES OF HIDES/CLIMBS DO YOU HAVE?- coco hut, and thick sticks to climb
DO YOU HAVE AN ISOLATION TANK?- No
HOW MANY EXTRA SHELLS AND WHAT SIZES DO YOU HAVE? I think about 10 extra shells, various sizes, most about .5"-1" bigger than the current shells
DESCRIBE THE PROBLEM & ANY OTHER INFO YOU THINK APPLIES-. two weeks ago, one crab lost it's legs slowly over 4-5 days, then died. Then this weekend we had one that hadn't moved for a few days (just sitting on the substrate in the open), we discovered Monday that it was dead.
Crab #3 has been hiding for about 2 weeks, and #4 just buried itself this weekend (he's never done that before - he is always always roaming and climbing the stick). I'm so worried for my son that we're going to lose the other ones! I researched SO much before we got them, and again when the first one died, and I don't know what I could be doing wrong!
