HOW MANY CRABS DO YOU HAVE,WHAT SIZES ARE THEY & HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD THEM?-(I always say name something they are the size of like a grape, ping-pong ball, etc.)

DESCRIBE THE PROBLEM & ANY OTHER INFO YOU THINK APPLIES-
There was an odor coming from the tank (turned out to be the food) so I was changing food and water and cleaning the tank a bit and making sure no one had died, and I discovered two molting crabs. One had the exoskeleton by him but it had come completely away the other (I was worried it was dead) I picked up and thought he was falling from his shell, but I believe it was in the process of molting and it was his exo. :-\ I replaced the crabs and covered them over with substrate (they'd been under over a week), but now after reading I'm worried that they will suffocate under there. Should I have just set them on top after inadvertently disturbing their molts or are they fine? Should I carefully remove the substrate above them so they are exposed or will this be worse? I substrate is loose and light, but I'm just not sure. Thanks for your help.
