Hello everyone! Just wanted to let you guys know I bought 3 new PP's at PetSuppliesPlus. It's the closest place that sells crabs to where I live.
I had around 7 hours to burn while I waited for my two dogs to get spayed and be ready to go home, so what do I do? I spend a few hours walking around the mall, get bored, andI go to the pet store with no intentions of actually buying anything. I spent a couple hours walking around, avoiding the area with the crabs because I'm totally not going to buy a crab right?
WRONG! I give in to temptation and I go and look at the crabs. Now the store doesn't have the best area set up for th crabs but I've heard of worse from you guys. They had damp eco-earth about an inch deep, a moist sponge, and coco huts to hide in. The area is about as big as a 5 gallon aquarium and there are 7 large crabs in there.
I find a worker and ask if she can open the tank for me to look at the crabs. She says ok and opens it. I take out a beautiful dark purple crab to look over. He was missing a couple leg tips, but was kinda hairy and still had toenails on his other legs so I put him back into the tank, kinda off to the side and repeat the process with a few of the other crabs. All of them were hiding in their shells and a couple chirped at me when I picked them up to look them over. All of them are missing leg tips but I picked out the three that looked like they had had a recent molt and told the worker I would take them. They were in natural shells, probably the same ones that they were caught in, though one had a small hole in it so it leaked water...
After I bough them I could hear the worker bragging to her co-workers that she had sold 3 crabs. Anyways I took them home and into my crabitat. They explored the entire are, found the food from TCP, gorged on that, and then my resident PP found them. He walked over, kinda on his tiptoes, grabbed one of the new crabs by the shell and tried to move it away from the food. The poor new crab just stood there and chirped, like it couldn't believe it was being attacked. I told Smiley he was a very bad crab and put him on the other side of the tank where he proceeded to pout before moving back to the others and sharing the food. After eating, and eating, and eating a bit more two of the new PP's dug down to destress and the other one, the first one I picked out, likes to go into their main hide during the day and explore and eat during the night.
