I kept putting fresh coconut in the tat.....never saw any nibbles so I started drying it to see if they liked it better that way.....some would be eaten, but not much....put fresh in the other night and I caught them feasting on it. Sometimes I get bummed out when I don't feel like they are eating enough meat, coconut or other stuff they need, but when I stay up late enough they always show me they are eating as much as THEY want not what I think they should eat (:

What I always tell people to remember is that they take very tiny little pinches off the foods, so it may not look like much is gone to us when we look. That's one of the reasons I cut my food (with the exception of the coconut) into super tiny pieces; it gives me a better idea of how much they're eating and prevents big chunks of moldy food when they drag stuff off (as crabs will do).
As for the coconut, I cut mine into little chunks about the size of a baby Lima bean & will put those in there. My crabs have never seemed like big fans of it no matter what, but I still offer it every couple days. Some of the people I've talked to (with far more years experience than me) say that they will eat what they need when they need it. So one night they may not need the fats & oils in the coconut & other nights they might & chow down. Some of my pieces will get dragged away from the dish, so they must like it sometimes, but mine are also not only spoiled, but they get worm castings, crushed oyster (or coral) and mineral powder (both with & without the cyclopeeze) so those things meet most of their nutritional needs-allowing them the freedom to pick & choose what they want/i] to eat of the fresh stuff. Spoiled little boogers.
