Personally, I enjoy making things for my crabs. Whether it be a new hidey hut or a new mixture of food, I find that it's actually really fun and makes for a good hobby.
So, I thought I'd make a board for all of us to share some of our crabs favorite recipes.
Amber's Staple I often mention the staple I keep in my tank at all times. It's a mixture of calcium (usually cuttlebone that I crush myself), dried krill, a little bird seed, spirulina powder (when I have it - it's very hard to find around here so I usually have to order it), and oats.
Not much, but it's calcium and protein (along with other nutrients) in the tank at all times. They like to nibble on it. I don't have to change it out very often, but I don't like to keep it in for more than 3 days in a row. Just because I'm weird like that.
Popcorn! My crabs love popcorn. No butter. No salt. But they devour it.
They tend to go through it faster if it's covered in something yummy. sometimes when I'm feeling really creative I put a little honey in a bowl, roll some popcorn around in it, and then roll the honey covered popcorn in some freshly shredded coconut. I let it dry for the honey to harden a little bit before giving it to them.
My crabs eat nothing like they eat their cocopopcorn. When I feed this, I actually have to put a little bit in different areas all over the tank or they fight over it.
That's their favorite. So, now I want to know - what do you mix up for your crabs that they absolutely love?

Hmmm, well I too have staples in my tank at all times. Mine (I call it "The Standards") is worm castings (also called HCP soil supplement if you get it from them), crushed oyster (or crushed coral with cyclopeeze) and HCP mineral powder. I have these in the tank all the time & they love it; especially the worm castings.
They love popcorn & seem to like the plain better than the buttery kind. They also really love watermelon, crushed crackers and/or cereals, spinach leaves & fudge mint cookies. ;D
**Let me know if you need more spirulina powder; I have a giant bag.

kitty: Not much activity in my tank. One morning I got up and it looked like a tornado went through it. Water bowls tumbled, food dishes upside down. Fixed it all up and have been waiting eversince. ! Nothing. DARN !!
