Okay, so I spotted this little girl out today, and seeing my crabs in the daytime is almost unheard of; especially small crabs. She's obviously freshly molted (very light purple with little pointy toes) and I first thought she was another new molter I spotted in a pointy shell, but that crab is in the coconut. So, here's my conundrum. Holding her (that's how we know she is a she), she is way too big for that shell, but she has boo-boos! I didn't get a good pic of her BP, but she has divots in the BP! There is a little one near the opening of the claw and one at the bottom of it. They have a bit of a black edge, but the one on top is a hole I can see light through and the one at the bottom is like a chunk was taken out of it. Also, she is missing half a lower leg segment and has boo-boos on two knees. I have pictures of her knees.
This isn't the best one, but you can kinda see it:
It looks a little washed out because of the flash, but they don't look to be bothering her, just yucky.
This one you can see it better-they look like lesions and this leg is also the one missing a piece of it and you can kinda see the mutated looking BP.
Any idea what this is or what could have caused it? Maybe just something that got in the way during a molt?
Also, is it possible that she is in the same shell and just grew that much in a molt? She can only get about half way in. If I see her out again, I'll try to get better pics, she didn't seem too shy. Her color looks to be a beautiful purple though, so that's cool. I just hope nothing is wrong with her. I don't think it's black spot just because my tank is usually bordering near too dry instead of too wet.
