Okay everyone; I have decided to lock and archive the HCA threads for several reasons. First and foremost is that I started Sach's Crab Page to get away from drama. I wanted a place where I could talk about and learn about hermit crabs, their care and other people who had them. I had been on other forums and I took the stuff I liked (like the journals) and the stuff I didn't (the criticism and politics) and I made my own page. I wanted to know all I could about the crabs and I wasn't feeling fully satisfied by the other forums when I was being intimidated, criticized or singled out. I wasn't doing the best my crabs by getting into fights with other people when I was trying to learn about them. So I made my own page, where I was in control and couldn't be bullied or mistreated and neither could anyone else who had a thirst for hermie knowledge.
Of course, I would love it if my page were to become the most popular crab forum on the internet; I'd be lying if I said otherwise. I really think it is, ya know. We are the friendliest and we have the best people in the field in our corner. But I never meant for wanting people to know about us to become the debacle it has. I just want fellow crabbers out there to know that we have good information on hermit crabs, presented in an atmosphere that is conducive to learning. I don't like the idea of new (and especially, younger) crabbers feeling intimidated by either the community or the process of caring for our coenobitidae friends. The only bad questions are the ones unasked.
A main reason, also, for wrapping this thread up is because I would rather just move on. We are getting an insane amount traffic, and that's cool. But it's for the wrong reasons. Sach's Crab Page and it's members are classier than all of this. We've all had our chance to vent and now it's time we move on to what's important; our crabs and the friendships here on SCP.
