DESCRIBE THE PROBLEM & ANY OTHER INFO YOU THINK APPLIES-
So my boyfriend and I purchased 3 hermits all together over the last few weeks. I did some extensive research because I knew they were quite a bit of work. Got them a ten gallon aquarium with a ton of nice fresh deep sand, a big cocohut, 2 palm trees, 2 differet water dishes and a food dish, space and a few shells. We started with 2 and added another 1 last week. The newest one hasn't be quite as active as our other two, but I don't try and touch them too much when they're getting used to the environment but I do check them from time to time. When I moved him into the water this morning he did move around, climbed out and fell asleep in the sand. A few hours later I went to change the water and noticed a lose claw when I lifted him his claw and pincher fell out and to my horror I could see his antenas and feelers moving inside the shell) I am a new owner and even after all the research I am dumbfounded. Is he dead, or molting? I thought molting took a while and usually under surface, I dont know what to do. Im leaving him be in the sand for now and I'll check in the morning would a heat lamp be something i'm missing? Our house doesnt go above 73 but its fairly warm and the other dont seem to mind I also cover half the top with a towel to retain some heat. Please help!
