First off let me say if had any other choice I would have left them alone! Back in April there was a very small fire in my home the crab tank ended up with a stress crack but nothing inside was damaged I checked. At the time I didn't have the funds to buy a new cage so I figured as long as it was holding heat, moisture, and sand it wasn't a high priority. Friday May 13th that became an issue the crack ruptured and sand started pouring out. I had to move everybody I had two down. While digging out the old sand in the tank I found pieces of a crab two legs and a big claw I never found the rest of him so I'm guessing I lost one . I also fairly violently found the other molter. He was finished and he wasn't soft but it looks like his big claw was damaged at some point either during the molt or my excavation. The new cage has been set-up the heaters are going 81F and the humidity is climbing 65% everyone seems to have adapted to the change well. I know they're are people who don't like giving hermit crabs baths but I did give everyone including the new molt a stress coat bath. Right now I have the new molt in a critter keeper with about 4 inchss of sand, food, and fresh water. I'm just giving her a chance to recover from the dig up in a stress free cage is there anything else I should do?
