So I've had my hermies for a month and a half. There are four of them. I have the in a 10 gallon tank (I have a 20 gallon im waiting to switch them to). My smallest one went down for a molt about three weeks ago. He just came back up a few days ago, but he NEVER comes out... Then 2 of them are missing. I haven't seen them in two weeks so I think the are molting, but im not sure. Then the last one is active an I see her basically everyday. I'm scared im doing something wrong and they aren't coming up. I change the food and the regular water and salt water bowls everyday and keep the humidity and temp up. I want to move them to a 20 gallon but they don't come up. I don't smell fishiness in the tank. Is it normal for them not to come up??? Thanks!
My crabs regularly go under for weeks at a time....My longest crab disappearance to date has been about 3.5 months....and all 5 are still alive and well. Hermit crabs aren't very social with human beings....they kinda do their own thing. As long as you don't smell that fishy smell I would say you are probably okay for now...
