I bought a lot of shells last weekend everyone is in bigger shell. Tank has always been a shell hider that will pinch before he'll come out of his shell. He doesn't like to be held at all. Every since he changed shells he's been more bold. He'll still pinch the crap out of you but he is more active and doesn't hide in his shell. Is this normal with a better fitting shell?

A better fitting shell will always make a crab more comfortable but I can't really say about how it will affect handling them as I advise against any handling that isn't absolutely necessary since being out of the tank makes it hard for them to breathe & our giant size stress them out (reminds them of predators).
≈19 clypeatus, 4 perlatus & 8 compressus in 4 tanks
I've resigned myself with while Tank has a bigger better fitting shell and is more brave and active he will be the one crab in the tank I only handle when necessary. While I can handle being pinched and I don't throw a fit like others I've seen, I don't like it lol.
BB's in a new shell again! This time he's chosen a longer opening white shell that has little brown bumps...yes, it's a 'Nat' shell. I didn't think anyone'd like it, the opening's so weird! I put it in because the shell is so interesting, the littles could have fun crawling over the bumps.
4/1 - Stained crab is a boy! 1/5 - Got a 'sick crab' pack from Nat. I'm very impressed, it's a large pack so will feed all crabs! 30/6 - My new hygros have arrived! The big tank is 29degrees/81humidity. The little tank has the same temperature but 86humidity.
kitty: Not much activity in my tank. One morning I got up and it looked like a tornado went through it. Water bowls tumbled, food dishes upside down. Fixed it all up and have been waiting eversince. ! Nothing. DARN !!
