Well, I'll add some more information to this. Renroc is an Aussie -in case my topic of Aussie Crabs hadn't already given it away. I am a primary school (elementary school for those from USA and CAN) and live almost on the coast of northern NSW. I am not far from Cape Byron which is the most easterly point in Australia. We have a sub tropical climate. It NEVER EVER snows where I live and it rarely even frosts. Today is the middle of winter and it reached 26c (78.8F) I must admit though it is not usually that warm. BUT winter days are usually around 20c (68F) Summer is also nice as it doesn't get too hot but about 30-35c is normal.(86-95F) My school has only 4 teachers and under 100 children from 5 to 12 years old. It is out in the country with farms all around but only 9km from the town I live in. My town has a population of about 65thousand.
c. variabilis x4: Ginger, Mango, Fudge and Caramel Ginger has been with me since November 2011. Mango, since August 2013 Fudge and Caramel were adopted in about November 2015 from a local crabber along with Ziggy who was the mother of my first lot of babies but died about a week later. + about a 13 baby crabs as at 26 Dec 2016 (DOH 4th December)

Sounds like the weather's pretty crabtastic where you live ;D I have a place for introductions but for some reason people stopped doing it all together A short bit about me is I'm married with 3 kids ages 14 months, 6 & 12 years. The oldest & youngest are boys; the 6 year old a girl. I live in Ohio in the United States currently. Our winter weather averages from the teems to low 40s and our summers are usually mid 60s to mid 80s though already this summer we've had temps over 101 and the humidity so high that he heat index is in the 100 & teens. I have around 17 c. clypeatus (purple pinchers) in a 55 gallon tank and 4 c. perlatus (strawberries) and 4 c. compressus (E/Ecudorians) in a 40 gallon tank.
≈19 clypeatus, 4 perlatus & 8 compressus in 4 tanks

Yeah, it's crazy. I was a kid in FL when I had my first hermit crab in a shoe box, lmso I remember we fed him hibiscus and peanut butter & eventually let him go in our yard Since taking it up again, I've lived in Colorado (high altitude, dry, extreme winters & cool summers), Pennsylvania and then OH. Half the crabs I have came here with me from PA and the other half I got here as adoptees, some local, some ordered and some all the way from Maine from a fellow crabber & page member.
I have around 17 PPs (still not sure on some of the adoptees) in a 55 and 5 Es (one jumbo, the rest smalls for their species but medium for the US industry) and 4 strawberries (one, an industry big medium and the other 3 smalls) in a 40. As soon as my stand is built (craws crossed it's this week) I am moving the PPs into a 121 gal and the exotics will go in their 55 and the 40 will get sold. (It's funny, I already have a 40 breeder with a screen lid for sale, but they apparently aren't popular in this area,hh) I also have a 10 & a 5 empty

I am 53, 2 adult children of my own and 3 more grown step kids...they have blessed us with 4 Grandsons. One lives with us (so does his Mom) He is the reason I now have 6 lovely PPs and they are precious. We are in the Austin TX area, mild winters hot summers. I ride a '94 Harley Heritage and horses, depending on my mood for horse power. I work for a local non profit and have been involved as a volunteer for abused children for many years. I am family oriented, laid back and think Hermit Crabs are precious...hoping to provide them an excellent home and have them around for a very long time. Thankful for this site so I can continue to improve their lives!
